COMPANY SUMMARY:
The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) is a nonprofit organization focused on ensuring that patients receive life-saving transplants. As leaders in advancing treatments for blood cancers, NMDP provides research, innovative technologies, patient support, and education. In 2017, NMDP expanded its efforts by creating NMDP Mexico to increase diverse donor registries, improve donor availability, and reduce barriers to transplants for patients in Mexico and those of Latino/Hispanic descent in the U.S. and other countries.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of all fundraising programs. They will oversee all aspects of benefactor cultivation, grant writing, fundraising events, and corporate sponsorship initiatives to ensure that the organization meets its revenue goals.
NOTE: To be considered for this role, you must reside in Mexico City and be fluent (written and verbal) in Spanish and English.
Responsibilities:
1\. Fundraising Strategy & Planning for Mexico
- Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan through individual giving, corporate partnerships, grants, and events.
- Set annual fundraising goals and track progress with performance metrics.
- Research potential funding opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with benefactors.
- Implement strategies for benefactor retention and growth, ensuring personalized engagement with high-value supporters.
- Identify grant opportunities and oversee the preparation of compliant, high-quality proposals.
- Cultivate relationships with NGOs, foundations, and grant-making institutions.
- Manage corporate sponsorship programs, building relationships with businesses.
- Secure and fulfill sponsorships for events and initiatives.
- Plan, manage, and execute fundraising campaigns and events.
- Collaborate with marketing to optimize financial contributions from various channels.
- Lead and manage the fundraising team, including staff and volunteers.
- Align fundraising strategies with organizational goals and provide training to board members and ambassadors.
- Develop and monitor the fundraising budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting, in collaboration with the finance team.
- Regularly report fundraising performance to senior leadership.
- Use management systems to track activities and benefactor engagement.
- Analyze data to evaluate campaign effectiveness and refine strategies.
- Ensure compliance with laws and ethical standards in all fundraising activities.
Knowledge of:
- Must have deep knowledge of the fundraising culture in Mexico and have expertise in business practices of the non-profit sector.
- Ability to implement fundraising strategies, budget control and goals achievements.
- Proven success in securing high value gifts, sponsors, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
- Familiarity with fundraising management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, Donor Perfect).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to build and nurture relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset.
- Knowledge of best practices in fundraising and donor cultivation.
- Financial literacy, including budget management and data analysis.
- Must have outstanding communication skills and be fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated success raising funds through different channels such as: Corporations, International Organizations and Agencies, Government, monthly giving and major benefactors. Develop fundraising plans oriented to results and campaigns that can support the achievement of goals.
- Ability to travel 40% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Business Administration or Social Responsibility degree preferred
- The candidate should have 5-7 years of leadership experience in fundraising for national/international organizations, including corporate, government, and grant relations, as well as major gift cultivation. Experience in philanthropy, digital fundraising, events, and CRM systems is required.
