Summary:
The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full time (40 of hours per week) requiring after hours, weekends and holiday work as needed.

Start date: This position is available now. Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time 2-3 weeks of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

Under the supervision of the Casablanca Diplomatic Courier Supervisor, the incumbent performs all duties as courier of controlled material/pouches to and from airport or other locations as directed. S/he must interact with, consulate customers, vendors, airline operators, airport officials, host government officials, cargo handling crews, and couriers. Will also interact with many Embassies and Consulates throughout Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Europe.

The incumbent must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for a Top Secret security clearance, possess a valid U.S. driver's licence and a diplomatic passport for courier escort duties.


Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
Experience: One year of general administrative or office experience, with ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required.

Education: High school diploma is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:


  • Basic keyboard skills and computer literacy on a variety of software applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.)

  • Must be observant, flexible, and service oriented, and display tact, calmness and courtesy in dealing with unusual and difficult situations.

  • Must be able to physically move and lift pouch bags and crates up to 35 lbs. when other assistance is not available.

LANGUAGE: Fluency in written/spoken / reading English is required. (This will be tested)

  • Must be in possession of a diplomatic passport for courier duties.

  • IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification. A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
