For our Amsterdam Office, the Netherlands, we are looking for a:


Category Manager


As Category Manager you will drive sales and profitability of our international desk. You will bear responsibility for procurement and sales, trade volumes and margins, customer satisfaction, opportunity and risk assessment and information exchange within our commercial team. Your high energy, drive, creativity and outstanding communication skills will be prevailing to further develop the business to achieve continued growth of the business. The category manager will work at our EMEA oil desk (which consists of tropical oils, liquid oils and specialty oils) and will report to the EMEA Oils and Fats Business Director.


Expectations

Sales and purchasing

  • Responsible for purchases and sales of allocated product group
  • Manage the related inventory and position
  • Coach and support the sales organization to grow the oils and fats category
Customer & Supplier Management

  • Manage specific customer accounts directly
  • Handle commercial issues and complaints to ensure optimal customer satisfaction
  • Manage supplier relationships and ensure all suppliers meet stringent vendor approval requirements
Market and Business Development

  • Suggests new trade opportunities and updated product portfolio
  • Trigger business development for oils and fats category towards new customer segments
  • Visit existing and potential customers, suppliers and trade-related fairs, both nationally and internationally
  • Keep track of international market developments
Process Improvement & Risk Management

  • Anticipate P&L evolution and suggest corrective actions when needed
  • Contribute to continuously improving the work procedures


Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor level (ideally International Trade and / or Agricultural education)
  • At least 5 years experience in a trade role in food business with successful customer experience
  • Affinity with the organic food industry and relevant quality - food safety regulations
  • Independent risk / reward assessment and the ability to solve challenging problems
  • Effective contract negotiation skills and stress resistant
  • Ability to prioritize and work with minimal direction
  • Proven excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • An “international” mindset and a team player
