Purpose of the Role:
The Logistics Specialist will be pivotal in enhancing the efficiency, compliance, and strategic optimization of our pharmaceutical supply chain operations. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to ensure seamless logistics solutions. Key responsibilities include:
Additionally, the Logistics Specialist will ensure that Pharming's current and future products are transported, stored, and distributed in compliance with Gx P guidelines, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of life for patients.

Purpose of the Role:
The Logistics Specialist will be pivotal in enhancing the efficiency, compliance, and strategic optimization of our pharmaceutical supply chain operations. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to ensure seamless logistics solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing logistics strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Participating in cross-functional teams on complex projects.
- Overseeing the integration of advanced analytics and technology.Managing strategic partnerships with third-party logistics providers.
Additionally, the Logistics Specialist will ensure that Pharming's current and future products are transported, stored, and distributed in compliance with Gx P guidelines, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of life for patients.
Areas of responsibility:
- Capacity Management: Oversee capacity management across the supply chain, including forecasting, planning, and optimizing capacity needs. Implement strategies to balance supply and demand and ensure efficient utilization of resources. Monitor performance to address potential capacity issues and support strategic decision-making.
- Distribution: Direct the end-to-end transport & distribution strategy, including the optimization of networks, routes, and delivery processes. Manage distribution operations to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of products. Utilize logistics technology to enhance efficiency and serve as the primary contact for distribution issues and performance improvements.
- Warehousing: Supervise warehousing operations, including strategy development, inventory management, and order fulfillment processes. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and optimize warehousing solutions for efficiency and effectiveness. Act as the main liaison for warehousing partners and address operational concerns while leveraging technology to improve warehouse management.
- Vendor Management: Oversee the ongoing management of selected 3PLs, 4PLs, distributors, and carriers. Monitor and evaluate their performance against agreed-upon service levels and compliance standards. Act as the primary liaison for these external partners, addressing operational issues, driving continuous improvement, and enhancing partnership performance.
- Strategic Planning and Optimization: Direct strategic planning and optimization efforts across the supply chain to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement logistics strategies that align with organizational goals. Analyze supply chain performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive initiatives to optimize processes and reduce costs. Act as a key advisor on strategic decisions impacting supply chain operations, integrating innovative solutions and technology where applicable
- Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to Good Distribution Practices (GDP) within the supply chain by supporting crossfunctional teams in regulatory compliance and risk management. Lead the improvement of processes for risk assessments and shipping lane validations. Monitor and assess GDP compliance, address potential risks, and collaborate on corrective actions. Serve as a key point of contact for regulatory bodies andinternal stakeholders regarding GDP compliance.
- Project Management: Oversee cross-functional project management for key logistics initiatives and process improvements. Lead project planning, execution, and monitoring to ensure timely and successful delivery. Coordinate with various departments and stakeholders, managing resources, timelines, and budgets. Resolve project-related issues and ensure all goals are met effectively while fostering continuous improvement.
- Selection/Onboarding of New Partners: Collaborate in the project(s) for the selection and onboarding of new third-party logistics (3PL) and fourth-party logistics (4PL) providers, distributors, and carriers. Coordinate with internal teams to evaluate potential partners, ensuring they meet organizational requirements and are effectively integrated into the supply chain. Facilitate stakeholder alignment and oversee the onboarding process for a smooth transition.
- Strategic Planning and Optimization: Direct strategic planning and optimization efforts across the supply chain to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement logistics strategies that align with organizational goals. Analyze supply chain performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive initiatives to optimize processes and reduce costs. Act as a key advisor on strategic decisions impacting supply chain operations, integrating innovative solutions and technology where applicable.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Manage the analysis and reporting of logistics data to support decision-making and enhance supply chain performance. Develop and oversee processes for collecting and reporting logistics metrics, ensuring accuracy and relevance. Utilize data analytics to identify trends in inventory levels, transportation efficiency, and distribution effectiveness. Monitor key performance indicators such as delivery accuracy, lead times, and cost metrics, providing actionable insights to optimize logistics operations. Serve as the primary contact for data-related inquiries and reporting needs specific to logistics within the organization
Your profile:
Knowledge:
- HBO+ degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD).
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain principles, including supply/demand planning, inventory management, and distribution.
- Proficiency in logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP S4HANA.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, such as Good Distribution Practices (GDP), and industry standards relevant to logistics in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or food manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of project management principles such as PMI or Prince2 certification is a plus.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in network optimization, logistics, and export management within a global pharmaceutical, chemical, or food manufacturing/distribution environment.
- Proven track record of managing third-party logistics (3PL) and fourth-party logistics (4PL) providers, distributors, and carriers.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement logistics strategies that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and validations for shipping lanes.
- Experience in project management with a history of leading and/or participating in cross-functional initiatives and delivering results.
- Experience in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to use analytics to drive decision-making and performance improvement.
- Displayed effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience in coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
- Experience in managing regulatory compliance and ensuring adherence to industry standards across logistics operations.
