Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Superintendent Refinery & WWTP in Europoort, the Netherlands. The Superintendent is responsible for safe and efficient operations of the Refinery & WWTP. Both the management of the human capital as well as the operational coordination and the alignment with Maintenance fall under the responsibility of the Superintendent Refinery & WWTP. He or she will be supported by a Production Engineer and Process Engineers. The Superintendent is sparring partner for the Superintendent Shift supervisor and Plant Manager with regards to the optimization of the technical and organizational processes. In the refinery both rape and soy oil is processed to produce Lecithin & refined oils, mainly for food purpose. Product is loading into trucks & vessels.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the plant manager, the main duties of this role will include:

Create and maintain the requirements for a secure and efficient operations of the plant with regards to safety, quality, costs, delivery and the environment;
Evaluation of the overall production planning, alignment with SI Maintenance & Reliability and SI Shiftsupervisor in case of sizeable malfunction and large scale maintenance;
Optimization of the ongoing operations by resolving bottlenecks and escalate and elaborate improvement proposals to SI Shiftsupervisor and / or plant manager;
Monitoring production results, watch over efficiency and quality and adjust where necessary, preventing production stagnation by timely taking preparatory measures or maintenance/ repair to machines and tools.
Leading your team in an inspiring and tactful way so that everyone is engaged towards the result and the collaboration is optimal within the department as well as with other departments.
Coaching your employees and support them in their development. You give feedback and you apply all people management tasks and HR instruments (amongst which performance reviews, career development, recruitment, and health management);
Participate in several meetings and transmit important information to co-SI`s, shift supervisors, engineering, SHEQ, HR etc.;
Report and evaluate the progress, operational results, actual costs, discrepancies etc. and address where necessary;
Managing department-related improvement projects and contributing to improving and optimizing results together with your team.
Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements within the department.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will possess the following:

Bachelor level (working level) preferably Chemical Engineering or Food Science & Technology;
Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in a management position within a production environment;
Fluent in Dutch and English both verbal and in writing, German knowledge is a pre;
Competency in MS Office applications;
General knowledge of legislation with regards to quality, occupational health and safety, environment, and process safety;
Solid affinity in problem-solving
Deep business insight with regards to operations and able to initiate improvement projects based on this insight;
Team player and socially skilled, identifies oneself with the core values of ADM;
The art of coaching, training, coordinating, leading and communicating to employees;
Stress resistance, a pro-active mentality, and flexibility.
