Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Department is looking for two new colleagues at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. We are particularly seeking candidates with a strong aptitude/flair for Operations and Supply Chain Management and potentially also Business Analytics as you will be involved in research, teaching, and service within these disciplinary areas.
Both the Lecturer and Senior Lecturer positions require teaching experience and a proven track record of quality research. The Senior Lecturer position requires evidence of publication in high quality and/or elite operations journals. There is a preference for individuals who can interact with, and are interested in getting involved with, the Centre for Supply Chain Management. While all methodological areas within operations and analytics will be considered, an interest in and ability to publish in high quality operations and analytics journals is a key requirement for the position. Expertise in empirical research, which will help teach Business Analytics courses, or in Procurement or Service Operations would be particularly welcome. We are looking for experienced teachers with proven abilities to use various teaching methods such as student-centered learning and mixed learning methods.
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, on a permanent contract. The salary range for this role is $94,981 - $138,721 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

You are an energetic, can-do person with a Ph D (or soon to be completed Ph D) in Operations and Supply Chain Management or closely related disciplines. Our ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience:
  • Experience in successfully delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Operations and Supply Chain Management and/or Business Analytics
  • Potential (L) or proven (SL) publication track record in relevant top ranked journals
  • Potential (L) or proven (SL) track record attracting funding from both internal and external reputable funding schemes
  • Ability (L) or proven (SL) track record in designing curriculum (part or entire programme)
  • Ability (L) or proven (SL) track record in successfully supervising graduate students’ research (Ph Ds and Masters)

The ISOM Department
The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM), one of seven departments within UABS, is ranked highly amongst other ISOM departments in New Zealand and is one of the leading departments in the Asia-Pacific region. It has a well-developed research culture, with researchers publishing in the best journals in their field. The Department is home to the Centre for Supply Chain Management (CSCM), a multi-disciplinary centre founded in 2007, developing and disseminating world-class knowledge and practices in supply chain management applicable to Australasian economies by fostering cooperation, collaboration and communication among academic researchers, educators and industry practitioners.
The department teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in most aspects of Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Business Analytics. It also teaches Information Systems.
