About us
The purpose of Te Tari Pūreke, Firearms Safety Authority business unit is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety through an effective regulatory and administrative approach to the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. Established to lead, operate, and develop investment in modernisation of the firearms system, which will result in a more efficient and effective risk-based licensing system, and shall improve public confidence in the firearms licensing system.
The modernisation of the Arms Regulatory System will take every opportunity to prevent harm through transparent, high quality, consistent, legislatively correct, and effective regulatory activities. This will also cover world leading administration, education, and promotion of compliance within the provisions of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.
About the role
The role will support the preparation of official information, privacy requests and official correspondence. To support the delivery of these outcomes, the Ministerial Advisor role will contribute to effectively responding to information requests to ensure relevant standards in terms of quality, accuracy and timeliness are being met.
The role will help triage and respond to Official Information Act and Privacy Act requests, and will support Te Tari Pūreke business group staff in preparing responses to information requests and official correspondence.
The role is vital to helping ensure information being released is timely, fit for purpose, and any potential issues are escalated to the appropriate levels.
Key Accountabilities
Pre paring responses to official information and privacy requests
Managing the process, including time-keeping, around responses to ensure Te Tari Pūreke provides high-quality responses to requestors in a timely way
Pro v iding relevant advice to subject matter experts (SME) within our organisation who may be contributing aspects of information request responses.
Using an appropriate risk lens to ensure that requests of a high organisational impact are managed; and escalating potential issues to the appropriate levels.
Contributing to the on-going development of our processes and systems to deliver, monitor and co-ordinate information/documentation.
May from time to time be required to also undertake other research and writing tasks in support of the Business Services Group.

Special requirements
A relevant qualification or related field or equivalent experience relating to Ministerial services.

Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87,306 to $91,353 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role .
