Mō te tūnga | About the role
The registered Asian Liaison Social Worker responds to the psychosocial needs of patients and their families who are referred to Hospice. You foster and build relationships in the Asian community and with relevant agencies, providing education and support that enables quality end-of-life care.
Part of the Family Support team of allied health professionals and wider multidisciplinary team, you will:
  • Maintain your own caseload of referred patients and provide dedicated clinical care
  • Play an active and collaborative role in the multidisciplinary team Provide evidence-based social work that complies with relevant legislation and policy standards
  • Build and maintain links with community agencies particularly those with links to Asian communities
  • Contribute to internal and external training and education sessions
You will be based at Kārohirohi North Shore Hospice, full time. Our hybrid working model allows you some flexibility with working from home and the office.
He kōrero mōu| About you
You have demonstrated experience and a genuine interest in palliative care and knowledge of the holistic needs of patients and their families. Our ideal candidate will have:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
  • Registered with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB)
  • Fluency in one or more Asian language ideally Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean
  • A valid, clean full NZ driving licence
  • Established network among Asian communities on the North Shore
  • Experience working in healthcare (preferred)

Harbour Hospice is one of the largest hospices in Aotearoa and has been caring for tūroro (patients) and their family and whānau for more than 40 years. Every day we care for close to 400 people across the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth/Wellsford regions, supporting them at home, in one of our two inpatient units, or in community programmes offered at each of our three sites. Our specialist services, given free of charge, include medical care, spiritual, cultural, psychological and social support, physiotherapy, occupational and complementary therapy, social activities and more. We are a progressive organisation that puts each patient, whānau and family, our community and our people, at the heart of everything.
