Overview of the Role
As an Accounts Assistant in our Finance department, you will play an essential role in maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with various accounting tasks. Your responsibilities will include data entry, reconciliation, invoice processing, and providing support to the finance team
Main Responsibilities
- Accurately enter financial transactions and data into the accounting system, ensuring completeness and correctness.
- Process supplier invoices, verify accuracy, and prepare payments for approval and disbursement ensuring timely payment to vendors.
- Assist in reconciling bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and communicate with customers regarding payment.
- Maintain and organize financial records, including invoices, receipts, and other supporting documents.
- Assist in preparing expense reports for employees, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Assist in generating and distributing financial reports as required, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing requested documents and assisting auditors as needed.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance team, including filing, photocopying, and other tasks as needed.
This a part-time, office-based 20-30 hour a week role that will suit someone with two + years of experience working in an Accounting-related role. You will have bookkeeping or accounting knowledge and/or qualifications necessary to accurately assist in maintaining the general ledger, ideally with experience working on MYOB Acumatica (Advanced)
Core Competencies
- Possess a high level of attention to detail to ensure accurate data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Be well-organized and able to maintain and retrieve financial records efficiently.
- Proficient in basic mathematics and comfortable working with numbers.
- Familiarity with accounting software and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
- Have effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members and external stakeholders
- Uphold a high level of integrity and confidentiality when handling financial information.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a timely and efficient manner.
- Be capable of identifying and resolving basic accounting discrepancies.
