Overview of the Role
Reporting to the IT Service Manager, an IT Support Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the computer systems, networks, and software systems for our clients. You will be the first person Elive's clients will come to. Tasks can include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware/software faults, and solving technical problems, either over the phone, via screen-share, or face-to-face.
Main Responsibilities
- First point of contact providing level 1-2 support, diagnosing, identifying, and resolving or escalating customer queries.
- Track through to resolution, & follow-up with clients to ensure their IT systems are fully functional within agreed time limits after troubleshooting.
- Ensure proper documentation is completed and the ticket-logging system is accurately maintained for all incidents and service requests logged. Prepare accurate and timely reports and if possible, analyse and diagnose common trends and underlying problems
- Assisting in the Technical design, planning, implementation, performance tuning, support maintenance, and recovery procedures for all mission-critical systems.
- Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
While this is primarily an office-based role, there will be occasional onsite & callouts to assist with resolution or a client project. You will also need to attend training courses to ensure you are keeping your skills up to date.
Core Competencies
- 2 years of hands-on experience working with computers, networks, Microsoft Active Directory, and Microsoft 365. Experience in Managed Services would be advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A team-player; this is an important characteristic of the Elive team
- A high degree of customer empathy and a natural ability to build relationships and rapport
- Well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of technology concepts
- Excellent interpersonal skills include strong communication, active listening, a customer-focused attitude, and telephony skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and quickly adjust to changes
- Ability to identify knowledge gaps and escalate immediately
