Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The School of Biological Sciences at The University of Auckland is seeking a highly motivated and capable Assistant Technologist to provide technical and knowledgeable support for Auckland Cytometry, the state-of-the-art flow cytometry core facility.
As an Assistant Technologist, you will use your technical expertise in flow cytometry to undertake procedures supporting immunology and cell biology in the Auckland Cytometry unit. You will also be advising users on best practice methods and provide training on a range of equipment. So your ability to communicate technical information and work with a range of stakeholders is crucial.
This will be a full-time role (37.5hrs per week)
The remuneration is $62,400 – $72,700 per annum, dependent on skills and experience

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team
The Faculty of Science’s Technical Services Team comprises over 100 technical staff providing specialist support to the Faculty’s academic staff and students across 9 of the 10 Departments. They contribute technical knowledge and expertise to research and teaching activities while ensuring the ongoing operation and compliance of a vast range of laboratories, workshops, teaching facilities, research equipment, vehicles and boats.

Our ideal candidate will have:
- A Cellular or Molecular Biology background, with a minimum of a graduate degree in a related field
- Experience in flow cytometry, immunology or cell biology
- The ability to prioritise work demands, organise schedules, and recognize the needs of research-based customers are essential requirements for this position
- Experience in a commercial or service focussed environment is highly preferred
