Aviation Security Officer
Aviation Security Service | Hamilton Airport
$72,187 per annum pro rata | Part-Time
Start date: March 2025
This vacancy relates to frontline roles within Aviation Security at the Civil Aviation Authority.

New Zealand is experiencing a surge in travel, making this the perfect time to become an Aviation Security Officer (ASO). We have several permanent part-time positions (minimum of 5 hours per shift) available for our upcoming training intakes on the 3rd and 17th of March 2025.

What You’ll Do
As an ASO, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our airports. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting pre-flight and baggage security screenings for departing passengers.
• Utilising specialist equipment and processes to maintain aerodrome safety.
• Performing mobile, foot, and static patrols in designated areas.
• Checking ID cards are displayed appropriately in security areas.
• Preventing breaches of aviation security and safety

You’ll receive a comprehensive, paid 12-week classroom-based and on the job training programme, where you’ll earn a NZQA Level 4 qualification. Training will be full time hours and held in Auckland.
Once your training period is complete, you will work at our Auckland Airport Station until early June 2025. You will be working part time hours, with paid travel time between Hamilton and Auckland. From early June, you will be based at our Hamilton Airport Station.

To join our team, you need to meet the following criteria:

• Have NZ/Australian citizenship or NZ residency.
• Be medically fit and willing to undergo a medical assessment.
• Have a full, clean NZ driver’s license.
• Be flexible to work a rostered shift pattern of 6 days on, 3 days off (including weekends and public holidays).
• Be available for an in-person assessment centre and interview in mid-late November.
