Work Location: Auckland
Employment type: Full time (guaranteed 30 hours / per week, Monday to Sunday), Permanent
Our pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Papparich is an authentic Malaysian restaurant that is all about Malaysian delights. Coming from a multi-cultural landscape, Papparich has an extensive menu featuring a pot pouring of authentic flavours and tastes.

Now, we are looking for 3 chefs to join our team. The successful candidate must be a strong team worker with good communication skills and have an enthusiastic attitude and willing to work hard to achieve the best standards of our menus.

Job duties and responsibilities for our chef would include:

• Participating in menu planning, stock ordering, cost controlling and wastage of food controlling

• Preparing and cooking foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions

• Checking and monitoring the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met

• Determining how food should be presented, and creating decorative food displays

• Demonstrating new cooking techniques and equipment to staff

• Estimating amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients

• Implementing and following strict rules of personal hygiene and ensure machinery is operated, cleaned and stored correctly; kitchen drawers and shelves are cleaned and tidy

• Complying with all Company Policies and legal requirements with special reference to Health and Safety to ensure all procedures: Health and Safety, and Food Safety Management are maintained to the required standards

• Participating in selecting and training new/current kitchen staff whenever it is required

Key practical skills:

• Have at least two years solid relevant experience, or

• Have a relevant NZ Level 4 qualification in Cookery or equivalent qualifications/certificates

• Great knowledge in Malaysian style cooking

• Available to work full time on a rostered shift including weekends

• Punctual, reliable, organized and efficient

• Must be passionate about food

• Be able to prepare food at a fast pace whilst maintaining a high standard

• Have a reasonable standard or presentation

• Must be able to work well in a team environment

• Have a positive attitude
