12 Month Fixed Term

The Waitangi Tribunal is a permanent commission of inquiry charged with making recommendations on claims brought by Māori relating to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. It holds a unique place in the New Zealand constitutional framework.
We are looking for a talented and hard-working person to join the Waitangi Tribunal Unit as a Claims Coordinator.

Te Haeata/The Opportunity
The Claims Coordinator supports the Waitangi Tribunal by performing event management and document management services that are essential to the effective operation of the organisation. These functions include:

  • Facilitating claimant participation in Waitangi Tribunal inquiries
  • Organising official events
  • Providing administrative support to Waitangi Tribunal members and the judiciary
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you will have:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail in managing large document banks and records
  • Experience in planning large events in set timeframes
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Full clean motor vehicle driver's license (essential)
Experience working with judiciary and a commitment to developing your knowledge in Te Reo and Tikanga Māori will be an advantage.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $65,066 and $90,008 based on skills and experience.
