Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for a part- or full-time (up to 40 hours/week) clinical pharmacist to join our hospital as the Medication Safety and Dose Error Reduction Systems Pharmacist. This individual is excited about the visions we share at Te Whatu Ora-Capital, Coast, & Hutt Valley and the future of our dynamic pharmacy profession. As a pharmacy department, we have a strong clinical presence across all areas of the hospital and linkages into our local community. We provide a comprehensive range of pharmaceutical care and extended roles to a variety of clinical areas.
Your primary roles as the Medication Safety and Dose Error Reduction Systems Pharmacist will be to improve the quality and safety of medications management at a district- and organization-wide level, and be responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining the Smart Pump drug libraries across the district. You would be expected to provide high-quality, effective clinical pharmacy services with a focus on improving patient outcomes and ensuring optimal medicines utilisation whilst minimizing risk.

The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers. We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service throughout to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District, which includes a clinical service, dispensary and logistics service, and a quality and risk service. Through these services, we aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of prescribing, supply and distribution of medicines throughout the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District. Our teams value professional growth, and emphasises clinical development and medicines optimisation for our patients.
Moū - About you
We want to hear from you if you are highly self-motivated, enjoy working with other health professionals, and can demonstrate effective teamwork and communication. Candidates must have a current New Zealand APC in good standing, and at least three years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
