  • Northland, New Zealand – based in Whangarei working primarily at Tuia Te Ora (Community based Health facilities)
  • Permanent, full time position working 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630)
  • Regular coverage at peripheral hospitals (Bay of Islands, Kaitaia and Dargaville)

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Sleep Physiologist to join our dynamic Physiologist-led team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting and interpreting sleep studies to assess sleep patterns, identify abnormalities, and help diagnose conditions like sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and restless leg syndrome. You will work closely with Respiratory Physicians and other healthcare providers to develop treatment plans, which may include recommendations for lifestyle changes, therapy (APAP,CPAP,Bi PAP for sleep disorders), or medication.
The role of Clinical Physiologist (Respiratory / Sleep) is an allied health, scientific and technical professional who has formally demonstrated an ability to apply expert clinical competence to a highly advanced level of complexity. The role is crucial in improving patients' sleep quality and overall health by providing evidence-based insights into sleep-related issues.

About our Team
A team of four Physiologists and two Sleep assistants work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians to provide high-quality care for our patients. This service is based primarily at Tuia Te Ora (Beautifully appointed Community based Health facilities) with some travel to our rural locations (Bay of Islands, Kaitaia and Dargaville).

About you
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of sleep physiology, strong technical skills in monitoring and data analysis, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to both patients and healthcare providers. Previous experience in a sleep clinic or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
Key Requirements:
  • Minimum 2-years post qualification experience with demonstrated ability to perform all core pulmonary diagnostic tests
  • Ability to gain registration as a Clinical Respiratory Physiologist with the NZ Clinical Physiologists Registration Board or work towards gaining
  • Experience in screening for obstructive sleep apnoea
  • Current Driver's License and a willingness to travel
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
