The Lobby Lounge is a sophisticated hub offering an extensive list of spirits, wines, cocktails and all-day light meals and pastries. The Inter Continental High Tea experience brings what is arguably the best afternoon tea offering in Wellington. At the Club Inter Continental Lounge our chef prepares buffet breakfast, afternoon tea of sweet and savory treats, and evening canapés served with a selection of beverages during twilight drinks. Adjacent to the hotel is Two Grey, where breakfast, brunch and dinner options will delight and inspire. GPO is our latest restaurant serving the best local seafood, meat and wine from New Zealand.
Your day to day
Inter Continental Wellington is in search of a exceptional pastry talent with a keen eye for detail and flair for patisserie. This role offers the chance to broaden your expertise in pastry and baking while working with an outstanding creative team.
Responsibilities will include the following.
- Preparing, baking and presenting dishes to delight our guests.
- Adhere to local regulations concerning health, safety, or other compliance requirements.
- Work closely with the culinary team to brainstorm and develop innovative menu offerings.
- Control food usage to minimize waste, maintain a clean, safe and tidy work environment.
- Have clear communication with staff in various departments, particularly the kitchen and front of house teams.
What we need from you
We are looking for enthusiastic and professional team players who knows how to deliver great service and exceed guest expectations. To be successful you will need:
- A Culinary qualification
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Pastry Chef
- Experience in a hotel or resort environment
- The ability to problem solve & remain calm in busy periods
- Great organization skill and ability to plan when multiple events happening in the same time.
- Flexibility to work a range of hours, which includes but is not limited to afternoons, evenings & public holidays
- An ability to work legally in New Zealand
