An exciting opportunity is available for a Director supporting the Office of the Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) in the Māori, Communities and Partnerships (MCP) Group.

The Māori, Communities and Partnerships Group is responsible for building capability across MSD to support the aspirations of Māori and connecting and collaborating to build effective partnerships and community approaches that achieve better outcomes for those who most need our support.

Te āhuatunga a te tūranga / About the role
This strategic leadership position plays a pivotal role in facilitating the effective functioning of the group, through managing key relationships, overseeing critical work programmes, and ensuring proactive communication with all relevant stakeholders.
In the role of Director DCE's Office, MCP, you will lead or oversee critical projects and significant high-risk issues, ensuring the proactive and effective management of risk, issue management, communications, and media profile. As a key support for the DCE and a member of the MCP Leadership Team, you will manage the DCE's workflow and responsibilities and represent MCP's position through strategic, credible relationships with key stakeholders including the Minister's Office.
The MCP rōpu is made up of five teams, the Pacific and Community Capability Programmes team, the Safe, Strong Families and Communities team, the Ministry of Youth Development, the Service and Contracts Management team, the Māori, Partnerships and Programmes team and a small but mighty MCP Office. The Director support all teams and is a critical liaison with the wider organisation.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong and collaborative stakeholder management skills
  • A well-rounded understanding of both strategy and operations
  • Proven ability to provide high quality advice on a range of issues
  • An ability to work with ambiguity and to move quickly in a dynamic environment
  • To be outcomes focused, and prepared to get stuck in to achieve desired outcomes
  • Excellent planning, and written and verbal communication skills
Please note to fulfil the requirements of the Director Office of Māori, Community Partnerships position a Secret security clearance will be required.

Salary range: $175,102.00 - $258,401.00
