MIT's Secondary Tertiary High is an exciting secondary school structure that functions within MIT- and offers year 11-13 rangatahi a second chance to re-engage with NCEA levels 1-3. We offer achievement standard school-based subjects providing pathways for rangatahi to complete their secondary education through NCEA and then transition into a tertiary qualification when appropriate.
The Secondary Tertiary High School is quite different to a conventional mainstream school setting. It has a small roll (200 rangatahi) and a low teacher-student ratio because its purpose is to manaaki our rangatahi for whom mainstream high schools are not meeting their needs. We provide a high level of pastoral care and dedicated teaching time, and plenty of whānau involvement to support our rangatahi to be successful. We seek a committed teacher to join our team who thrive on motivating and engaging rangatahi to achieve academic success.
If you are an English Teacher with at least 2 years secondary school experience and a real passion for vocational education and rangatahi reaching their fullest potential, read on to find out more.
What are we looking for?
  • a successful applicant with a current teacher registration
  • proven recent teaching experience with NCEA in a NZ secondary school
  • recent experience in assessing NCEA English from Years 11 to 13
  • teaching qualification

At MIT you will work with some incredible people who are passionate about the positive impact we make to the communities we serve. We offer a work environment which values genuine people who care for others, are well-connected, open and approachable and strive for excellence in all we do. If you are excited by the role and feel you would fit well into our organisation, we would love to hear from you.
