We are looking for an experienced leader to join Open Polytechnic's Executive Leadership team, with responsibility for the full scope of the digital technology environment in our organisation. The Executive Director: Digital provides the strategic direction and leadership that delivers the digital technology capability, innovation and services that enable our distinct technology-enabled learning experiences, in alignment with and by achieving the goals and objectives of the Polytechnic.
As a member of the Polytechnic's Executive Leadership Team the Executive Director: Digital contributes to the strategic leadership of the organisation and the identification and setting of strategic goals and objectives by bringing to the team a focus on and expertise about all things digital.
The role is responsible for:
  • Contributing to setting and implementing the strategic direction of Open Polytechnic
  • Leading and managing the full scope of the digital technology ecosystem
  • Providing the effective leadership and management that ensures diverse teams work cohesively and in alignment with the strategic direction of the Polytechnic
  • Developing and delivering a digital strategy that secures the achievement of organisational goals and objectives

Open Polytechnic extends to our kaimahi (staff) opportunities to establish flexible and hybrid working arrangements. As a member of the Polytechnic's executive there is a requirement for you to be available to attend the Lower Hutt campus on a regular basis.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Significant senior management experience with evidence of effective strategic leadership
  • Experience in implementing technological change throughout an organisation
  • Experience in leading project management and/or a team of project managers.
  • Strong digital education technology knowledge and understanding
  • An in-depth understanding of how the business of education works and how this relates to the vocational education sector
  • Self-motivation, accompanied with the ability to crunch the challenges the role can present.
