Counties Manukau Health (CM Health), based in South Auckland, is a unique and dynamic organization where every day is exciting! If you are a senior trainee and keen to gain experience at a senior level in General Intensive Care or are already working at specialist level in ICU then look no further.

For a health career packed with benefits, you won’t find much better than at CM Health. We are pretty unique in terms of the diverse population we serve and the medical challenges we face and that all adds up to a great place to learn as a senior trainee.

We are welcoming expressions of interest for a twelve month Fellowship in our Critical Care Complex, based at Middlemore Hospital. Start dates are negotiable.

Admission numbers are around 1400 per year to the Complex (ICU/HDU) with 85% of these as acute admissions. We are a supra-regional spinal injury service and care for severe burns as part of the National Burn Service taking patients from throughout New Zealand. Additionally, we admit around 150 paediatric patients each year and are involved in paediatric resuscitation in the Emergency Department.

The successful applicant will have previous experience of Intensive Care clinical practice at Registrar level and be looking to pursue a career in Intensive Care Medicine. It is desirable that you have sat and passed the Australasian fellowship exam in Intensive care medicine. However, we also welcome international applicants who have trained in an equivalent training program. Previous paediatric experience would be ideal.

You will under supervision on the Specialist roster and have responsibility for some quality improvement initiatives. We will offer non-clinical time, and mentoring as appropriate, to help you develop portfolio interests and skills that will benefit your future career development. These could include Education, Research and Human Factors/ Safety and Quality. We will support you to attend conferences and meetings that further these interests.

It is essential that you are either already registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and have an Annual Practicing Certificate prior to commencement.

For further information about clinical or training aspects of the post please contact Dr Nic Randall at Nic.Randall@middlemore.co.nz or Dr Anna Mulvaney at anna.mulvaney@Middlemore.co.nz
