Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Waikato Asset Recovery Unit are looking for a motivated individual to join their team as a Financial Analyst.

Your role will involve reviewing and assessing a variety of alleged criminal offending, generating financial profiles of identified targets and identifying ownership of assets. You will be required to quantify and evidence legitimate and illegitimate income to advance successful Court proceedings to restrain and forfeit assets derived from crime, utilising Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act 2009 legislation.

In this role you will work with investigation teams from within Police and with external partner agencies, assist with effective interviews, and interact with members of the local and international financial business community.

Ultimately, your work as part of the Waikato Asset Recovery Unit will contribute to reducing harm in the community and ensuring crime does not pay.

Key Accountabilities:
Prepare and present (written and verbal) information in a clear and concise manner

Proficient in utilising Excel and other financial analysis tools and experience with income determination methods

Manage time effectively to complete multiple files and meet deadlines

Keep accurate and detailed records of all information and decisions

Conduct enquiries and secure evidence relevant to investigations and provide recommendations to advance investigations

Work within a team environment and be a self-motivated worker

Have experience in financial analysis and be able to reconstruct financial accounts

Ability to present financial data in a clear and concise manner

Demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Display behaviours consistent with the core values of New Zealand Police and contribute towards the strategic goals of the organisation

To be successful in this role you will require the following:

Have an understanding of Crypto Currency and associated value transfer (desirable)

A background in Intelligence or investigative analysis would be advantageous.

Ability to embrace change and efficient at juggling shifting priorities while maintaining focus.

This role is based in the Hamilton area. Some travel may be required within the North Island.

Successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks including vetting, reference and professional conduct checks.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $95,057 and $100,626 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
