Scottfresh are intensive growers of vegetable and fresh cut salad crops based in Coastal North Canterbury.
The focus for this role will be safely leading and coordinating the in-field harvest team, for the Vegetable Production Unit. It will involve accurate crop forecasting, harvest and sales planning, and coordination of our lettuce and broccoli vegetable harvest teams. This role is for someone who will thrive in a hybrid environment of in field management, as well as office-based tasks. As a family business, Scottfresh takes great pride in developing people, not just growing fantastic crops. This is a coordinating not ‘doing’ role.
Job Location: Spotswood & Claverley, North Canterbury, South Island, New Zealand
Pay Rate: $31.70
Hours of work: 45-65 hours per week (minimum guarantee of 30 hours per week)

The Role (subject to variation depending on the ideal candidate):
· In consultation with the Crop Manager undertake regular crop walks and provide crop forecasts for harvest and sales planning.
· Co-ordinating harvest teams and managing performance by driving efficiency.
· Ensure that all harvest team members adhere to Health and Safety principles.
· Carry out practical training and track individual team members training needs/levels.
· Work closely with the Dispatch Coordinator and General Manager regarding stock volumes, market orders, and market quality specifications.
· Understand the workings of all harvest machinery and equipment.
What you’ll need to succeed:
· A Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent relevant work experience;
· A full and current driver’s licence.
· At least 6 months experience within a vegetable growing operation.
· Experience in leadership.
· Desire to learn all aspects of both harvest and the wider growing operation.
· Ability to quickly engage with change.
· Be able to build strong working relationships with our internal and external teams.
· Able to provide insight and quickly identify a way forward when presented with issues.
· Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
· An enthusiastic and positive attitude with flexibility to work extra hours if required.
· Be fully committed to a safe workplace, including our drug or alcohol testing
