We are on the lookout for a dedicated Kaiako to deliver our Kāwai Raupapa – Toi Ataata (Rauangi) programme. This is a fixed-term (12-months), full-time (37.5 hours per week), based in Huntly.
As Kaiako, you will introduce tauira to tertiary education and Māori Art through an exploration of Rauangi. This programme is crafted to equip tauira with the confidence and foundational skills for a future in the arts. In this full-time, fixed-term role, the successful candidate will engage in recruiting prospective tauira, delivering programme content in line with the approved curriculum, implementing annual and module plans, and offering valuable career guidance to support tauira on their educational journey.
Mōu | About you
The ideal candidate is a passionate educator with expertise in Māori and Indigenous Arts, committed to fostering a supportive and inspiring learning environment for tauira.
You will also bring the following:
- Te Maunga Kura Toi (Bachelor of Māori Art – L7) with a focus on an appropriate kaupapa Toi (Whakairo, Ngā Mahi ā te Whare Pora, Toi Ataata, Mau Rākau, Performing Arts), or equivalent, that demonstrates holding or showing equivalence for NZQA standards assessed in this programme
- New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent
- Either attest equivalence for NZQA standards required to assess and moderate this programme OR hold the NZ Certificate in Assessment Practice (L4)
- Full and current NZ Driver License
- Minimum two years of proven experience teaching adult learners
- Proven experience and expertise in Māori art world with specific skills in relevant kaupapa toi
