Mō tēnei mahi | About this job
We are offering an exciting dual-role opportunity for a dedicated individual to join our team on a casual basis. This position combines two essential roles: Kaiako Te Ara Reo Māori and Kaiāwhina.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing cover when a team member is unable to work due to illness or other reasons. This may involve receiving a call either in the morning or the previous evening to cover a full day or specific class. Additionally, you’ll be involved in managing planned leave. Prior to the leave period, you’ll have the opportunity to indicate if you are available for all, part of or none of the time and we will work together to finalise arrangements.
As a Kaiāwhina you will support our Kaiako in delivering our Te Ara Reo Māori programme within a proactive, supportive, and whānau-based environment. This role also assists the Kaiako in preparing resources and classrooms, monitoring student attendance, supporting tauira learning, administration tasks and student recruitment
As a Kaiako you will deliver our Te Ara Reo Māori programme using the Ako Whakatere methodology and techniques. Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings may be required.
Mōu | About you
The ideal person for this role is a passionate and adaptable individual with a strong commitment to Māori education and the ability to thrive in both teaching and support roles.
You will also bring with you:
- The ability to converse in Te Reo Māori.
- A Diploma Te Reo Māori or a higher qualification
- New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete this during their first year of employment
- Level 4 Te Reo or Tikanga qualifications are advantageous.
- Full and current New Zealand Driver’s License
- Experience teaching Te Reo Māori
- Experience with Ako whakatere methods of teaching, learning and delivery
- Proven adult teaching experience
- Competency in navigating e-learning methods of delivery and systems.
- Confident using Microsoft software.
