Kaiako - Te Aupikitanga ki te reo Kairangi L6

Mangere

FULL TIME

November 24, 2024

Mō mātau (About us)
As a proudly indigenous tertiary educator, ‘tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.
Our kaimahi (employees) enjoy a whānau-friendly workplace and a great range of benefits to support their wellbeing and that of their whānau:
  • Free health and life insurance for permanent employees.
  • Four extra leave days each year to celebrate Matariki and Christmas, plus special leave available for those involved in cultural or sporting events.
  • Flexible work hours and work-from-home options for some roles.
  • Free car parking at our main campuses.

Mō tēnei mahi (About this job)

We are looking for a passionate and nurturing Kaiako to deliver our Te Aupikitanga ki te reo Level 6 programme. This fixed-term, full-time role (37.5 hours per week) starts in January 2025 covering parental leave until May 2025.
This is a Reo Rūmaki (Total Immersion) course, requiring proficiency in te reo Māori, along with proven experience in delivering and teaching the language to adult learners. We are particularly interested in Kaiako who are creative and adaptable in their teaching methods, able to cater to diverse learning needs of tauira at various levels.

Mōu (About you)

To succeed in this role, you must be proficient in te reo Māori and capable of delivering lessons entirely in the language. We are looking for a confident Kaiako who brings energy and creativity to their teaching. You should be open and dedicated to sharing and enhancing te reo Māori skills with both your fellow team members and tauira.
You will also bring with you:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Te Reo Māori (Level 7 or higher) or be willing to work towards this qualification and possess the relevant life experience
  • Diploma in Adult Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent
  • Full and current New Zealand Driver’s License
  • 3+ years’ experience teaching full immersion te reo Māori
  • 3+ years’ experience teaching adults
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
