Policy Advisor - Net Zero / Climate Systems and Climate Priorities

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
We have roles available in our Climate Mitigation Unit, in our Net Zero/Climate Systems and Climate Priorities and Forecasting teams.
The Net Zero / Climate Systems team ensures that policy and legislative settings enable New Zealand and New Zealanders to achieve our climate outcomes. This includes work such as:
- Setting out the overall systems narrative and story for climate mitigation,
- Ensuring the Climate Change Response Act, and other relevant legislation, remains fit for purpose,
- Providing advice to the Government on Emissions Budget 4, the 2050 target and if aviation and shipping should be included in the target,
- The overall story that is reflected in Emissions Reduction Plans, and responding to various Climate Change Commission reports.
As an Advisor you will support the development and delivery of high-quality policy within a complex and challenging policy space, often on new, contentious, sensitive or complex areas or issues where the scope is often unclear.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
Demonstrated experience managing the implementation of complex policy projects and programmes, managing risks and business analysis.
An ability to set priorities and to achieve deadlines and project and programme outputs.
Communicating effectively including the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles, both written and verbal for briefing Ministers.
Desire to work across complex projects and programmes and willingness to shift seamlessly across the business unit as required.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $79,598 to $96,372 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
