Mōtēneitūranga mahi | About this role
Te Piringa (Tiriti Commitments) will manage strategic Māori relationships including the National Iwi Chairs Forum and Te Tai Kaha. This team also negotiates Treaty settlements and co-ordinates the Ministry's participation in Treaty-related claims in the Courts and Waitangi Tribunal. Te Piringa is responsible for the Ministry's claimant funding policy, including oversight of the policy's implementation.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
Meets the minimum expectations of the Ministry's Advisor position description.
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, in particular, the Treaty settlement process, Māori rights and interests, and the Māori Crown relationship.
  • Experience in engaging with Māori on complex matters, including but not limited to Treaty settlements.
  • Ability to provide advice on Treaty settlement redress and relevant policies.
  • Support the Ministry's monitoring and reporting on Treaty settlement commitments.
  • Enable the Ministry to respond to Treaty-related claims in the Courts and Waitangi Tribunal.
Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range
Salary range for this role is $79,598 to $96,372 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
