Programme Lead, Training Improvement Programme – Flexible Location – Fixed Term

Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role:
The Programme Lead: Training Improvement Programme will play a pivotal role in leading a significant change programme focused on ensuring Fire and Emergency’s training systems, practices and governance are effective and fit for purpose for the delivery of operational training.
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive People, you will be tasked with establishing and embedding systems necessary to ensure our learning programmes meet current and future capability needs, our prioritisation and development approaches are focusing our training effort in the right places, delivering quality learning that is targeted, aligned, and quality assured, and that we understand the impact our training interventions are having on building the capability of our people.
You will be leading a small team of three people, working in partnership with the Learning and Development Directorate to embed improvements for sustainable training systems, programmes and future focused delivery for Fire and Emergency NZ.
This is a 10 month Fixed Term position from ASAP until 30 June 2025.
Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - What you’ll bring to the role:
You will have strong senior level adult education experience and ideally worked within a change management environment. Able to demonstrate effective leadership and relationship management skills to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders. A strong influencing ability in people engagement to help navigate differing viewpoints to find a common ground resulting in a positive shared outcome. Thrive on working to tight deadlines whilst ensuring all work streams, programmes and other initiatives are delivered with high quality outcomes. Strategic ability to drive delivery, design and embed learning programme initiatives within a framework that is valid, fair and consistent.
To be successful in this role, we’d expect you will have:
- Significant senior-level experience in Adult Education
- In depth understanding of traditional and modern training needs
- Ability to lead and implement strategy
- Positive relationship-building and communication skills
- Familiarity with government training establishment( GTE) and Workforce Development Council
- Flexibility to work within a fast-paced environment
- An in-depth knowledge of FENZ and the operating environment
The salary range for this role is $173,836-$193,151 (pro-rated) dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
