Project Engineer
Location: Auckland, New Zealand (Headquarters)
Travel: Occasional travel across New Zealand to support teams outside Auckland Region
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Your main responsibilities
About the role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with the sales and modernisation teams to design, develop, and deliver optimal building transport solutions. Your expertise in mechanical engineering will be key in providing technical advice, ensuring seamless project execution, and delivering high-quality outcomes for our customers.

Your role will involve:
  • Using your technical capabilities and knowledge of Auto CAD to work alongside our sales and modernisation teams to prepare lift drawings for a range of projects, including retail and commercial developments and aged care facilities.
  • Conduct design checks on components and systems related to lifts, escalators and moving walks in accordance with all relevant standards.
  • Work closely with our global factories to order units and their key components.
  • Collaborate with the Project Engineering team to check work for accuracy and fit for purpose to ensure we are always aligned to Schindler design guidelines.
  • Team up with Sales modernisation consultant to better understand our customer needs.
  • Carry out site inspections with the modernisation and installation teams where required.
  • Provide technical advice and support nationally.
  • Conduct design calculations and comment on the structural components of elevators, motor rooms, escalators and moving walks.
What you bring
  • Either a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer in lift/escalator industry or a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2 (Trade certificate or Diploma) in the Mechanical Engineering area.
  • Eligibility to work permanently in New Zealand (citizen or permanent resident)
  • NZ Driver's licence
  • Experience in CAD software (such as Auto CAD, Solid Works) to create 2D and 3D models.
  • Experience in BIM a plus
  • A practical thinker with the ability to view a project holistically
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Ability to work under pressure and rapidly problem solve
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly detailed with the technical capability to create and review drawings
  • A passion for providing an excellent experience for both internal and external stakeholder
