Residential Worker - Tumanako
CONTRACT
October 20, 2024
We currently have an opportunity for Residential Youth Workers to join our Te Whare Tumanako Tuatahi Group Home.
Mō mātou | About us:
Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children has a commitment to putting tamariki and rangatahi at the heart of what we do. In our work, we aim to demonstrate these values:
- We put Tamariki first
- We believe Aroha is vital
- We respect the Mana of people
- We are Tika and Pono
- We value Whakapapa
- We recognise that Oranga is a journey
We are looking for positive role models to work with our young people, helping them turn their lives around. To help them achieve this, our Residential Youth Workers, as part of a team, provide daily care and support. They get involved assisting our young people to re-engage with school/vocation, attending appointments, having visits with their family, connecting with peers, and managing themselves within the home.
As a casual worker you may be called upon to work a shift covering evenings, weekends or public holidays and may be asked to work more than one day in a row. Because our casual pool provides support when relief is required you may be called upon at short notice. This is your opportunity to apply your skills and experience to the wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi.

- Have life experience and understanding of what rangatahi may be going through
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience Bring an understanding and confidence in tikanga Māori and te reo Māori
We offer a vibrant and supportive team, flexible work options and a genuine commitment to wellbeing. As well as training and professional development so that you can thrive and grow. We welcome diversity and are committed to working in an inclusive and respectful way.
