He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
Our rheumatology service currently provides care to people from across the district at ambulatory clinics at two hospital sites in Tauranga and Whakatane. The Rheumatology team consists of Physicians, Specialist Nurses, and Allied Health staff. One of our team is working towards retirement and we are offering this role as a fixed-term position, as we look to how best to grow and innovate to meet the needs of our population across into the future. If you are interested in utilising your specialist knowledge and skills to meet the needs of a diverse population - this is an opportunity to contribute to the direction the service will take to meet future healthcare needs.
As we move towards the Health NZ system redesign, we are aware of the opportunities this provides to adapt and deliver services that are accessible and responsive to people with both acute and long-term health challenges. This role is suited to someone who is enthusiastic about service improvement and working in new ways as part of a multidisciplinary team. To meet this vision the ideal candidate will have experience in working in a culturally diverse setting and proven skills in contributing to services that have evolved to meet the needs of patients, whanau/family, and the wider community through an integrated service model of care.

The ideal candidate would also have the skills to foster a learning culture across undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff, with the support of the BOP clinical school and the University of Auckland. The school also provides clinical research opportunities.

Applicants must hold or be eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council or be training in NZ with 9 months or less of advanced training remaining to achieve FRACP.
