Senior Customer Support Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity in our Christchurch Headquarters for a Senior Customer Support Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. This position is aimed at the Senior level, but candidates with skills ranging from Junior to the Specialist level will be considered if you're a good technical fit for our needs.
Working as a member of the Level 3 Support Services team, the Senior Customer Support Engineer serves as a leading technical resource for delivery of support and information to Tait teams and customers around the world via remote electronic mediums and at times, on-site technical support services.
The Senior Customer Support Engineer encompasses broad and well-developed technical skills. The role serves as a Subject Matter Expert and will require the operation and configuration of complex radio systems and the diagnosis of non-conforming functionality to an operating system level.
Our Senior Customer Support Engineer opportunity will attract an annual base salary range of $90K to $105K per annum, and will be full-time, 40 hours per week, located in Christchurch
The duties of the role will include:
Given the nature and complexity of our industry, the diversity of applications, and the variety of customers, the Senior Customer Support Engineer will have a highly developed practical knowledge of technical systems, including complex system designs and installations, be highly customer focused, and have excellent diplomacy skills.
The Senior Customer Support Engineer will demonstrate a passion and commitment to the job and do what it takes to ensure the smooth support of systems and the rapid resolution of any product or customer related issues.
This role will provide the leadership required to other engineers to achieve the team goals, this may mean supporting other functional areas, international travel, and providing after hours on call support.
Ō pūkenga - About You
To be successful in this role, you will have an Engineering degree/diploma/certificate in a related field or the equivalent work experience
As well as:
  • A highly developed practical knowledge of radio systems, including RF system design and installation is desired.
  • Experience with DMR and/or P25 Digital Radio Infrastructure and Terminals configuration and support
  • Prefer at least 5 years' experience with Land Mobile Radio equipment, trunking systems, and/or simulcast systems
  • Experience with over the air programming and re-keying of radios is an advantage
  • Software skills or aptitude in this field including an understanding of command line level OS work
  • IP networking experience is desired
  • Security experience in compliance for Cloud security, Network Security, and application and product hardening
  • Preference for some familiarity with the concepts and usage of ITIL Service Management principles
  • Testing of solutions and software - methodology and the execution
