Senior Physiotherapist in Surgical and Trauma

- Join our Physiotherapy team based at Auckland Hospital as a Senior Physiotherapist within General surgery
- Permanent, full-time role – 1fte
We are looking for an experienced New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist to join our physiotherapy team at Auckland City Hospital to work in a static role within general surgery. This is a permanent full-time position of 40 hours per week. You will also be required to contribute to our weekend and on-call roster.
This role sits within the acute surgical team and encompasses the management of patients with a wide range of presentations including but not limited to abdominal surgery, trauma, urology and liver and renal transplants. Within this service you will work closely as an Interdisciplinary Team including your physiotherapy colleagues. At Auckland DHB we promote team working and therefore you will also have the opportunity to work across our other acute specialist surgical services such as orthopaedics, vascular and neurosurgery.
As we are a teaching hospital, you will have the opportunity to develop skills in teaching and mentoring through preceptorship, professional supervision and student supervision. You will also be supported to be involved in service development projects within the general surgical and trauma specialities.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- 5+ years years of clinical experience working in a hospital setting. Acute surgical or trauma experience is advantageous.
- Excellent clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practice
- Evidence of establishing and developing working relationships within the wider IDT
- Effective teaching and mentoring skills
- Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
- A flexible, pro-active approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a bicultural environment and knowledge of the acute hospital environment
