About Crown Property
We are excited to announce newly created Senior Customer Regulatory Specialist roles within our Crown Property team. These roles are part of a recent change initiative aimed at fostering closer relationships with our customers and developing a more strategic approach to managing the Crown property across New Zealand. It's a unique opportunity to contribute to the responsible stewardship and sustainable use of Crown Land for the benefit of both current and future generations.
The Built Structures team is a small group of property professionals within the larger Crown property group. The team is responsible for the management of all built structures within a large diverse portfolio. If you enjoy working collaboratively with a team of experienced and likeminded property professionals, then this role is for you.
About you and your role
In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a large diverse property portfolio. This is an exciting technical property role and not for the faint hearted, with no two days the same. Our portfolio is challenging with diverse properties in various conditions, with many in isolated and rural areas. A love for travel is a must, as you'll be regularly travelling nationwide to inspect our properties and determine what to do with them.
You'll have a deep understanding of property management principles and the property lifecycle to be able to provide strategic property development advice, as we work through the portfolio. You'll be able to collaborate well with contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality services and cost-effective solutions.
You'll be a natural relationship-builder, relating to and communicating well with people from all backgrounds and all walks of life, whether resolving day-to-day tenancy matters, or working with iwi on Treaty Settlement properties. You will also need to demonstrate strong field experience and confidence and composure on-site while working with customers.
We are looking for streetwise technical property experts who thrive under pressure.

Whether you're developing our products and services to support our customers, managing the Crown estate, engaging with our iwi partners, or helping us be an effective regulator, your contribution can make a difference. Our mahi helps New Zealanders have confidence that the development of our land, communities and country is being planned from an informed and expert position that balances environmental, social, cultural, and economic considerations. Now and for future generations.
Our Kia Toipoto Intentions - Public Service Gender, Māori, Pacific and Ethnic Pay Gap Action Plan
Toitū Te Whenua is a diverse team of individuals with different experience and perspectives. This drives our culture and high performance. We know that people from underrepresented groups and women in particular don't apply for roles if they're not a 100% match, but we're not looking for perfection, we're looking for potential. As an inclusive and supportive employer, we value difference and want to encourage anyone interested to apply, regardless of whether you tick all the boxes or not. As an organisation we embrace diversity, encourage work life balance and have a flexible approach to the way we work which means you will quickly feel connected and valued.
