Summer Assistant Vacancy - Biosecurity - Woolly Wipeout (Fixed term - 12 weeks)

Te Tūranga - The Role:

Our Biosecurity team is working on pest plant advocacy and we need your help! We work towards creating a pest free region for our communities, using all kinds of technology and methods to achieve our Regional Pest Management Plan.

In this role, you will be working within our team to:
  • Coordinate the Woolly Wipeout programme for western Bay of Plenty.
  • Create pest plant kits and deliver to landowners.
  • Demonstrate pest plant control methods to the public.
  • Work with Biosecurity staff on local and regional projects.
  • Create a report on the Woolly Wipeout programme.

You’ll be joining the Biosecurity team, where your work will contribute to tackling the problem of invasive plant species in the Bay of Plenty region.

Ngā Pūkenga, ngā wheako - Your Skills & Experience:

Ideal applicants for this role should:
  • Knowledge and/or experience with biosecurity issues in New Zealand.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in pest plant control and the Regional Pest Management Plan would be an advantage.
  • Be comfortable approaching people to talk about pest plant issues.
  • Be studying or plan to commence studying towards Environmental Science related qualification.
  • Hold a full current NZ driver’s licence.
This position will be located in Tauranga.
