Summer Assistant - Safer Boating

Our environment and our people go hand-in-hand.The BOPRC Harbourmaster Team are anticipating a busy summer on the water and are seeking four (4) Safer Boating Summer Assistants to aid in promoting safer boating throughout the rohe.
This is a part-time, fixed term opportunity from 11 December - 24 January 2025, and may suit school leavers/University students. Applicants must be able to work over the Christmas/New Year period.
Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role
Duties will include:
  • Promotion and Education of Safer Boating message to the community
  • Completing boat ramp education throughout the Bay of Plenty region
  • Assisting with research and compliance surveys at strategic locations across the Bay of Plenty
  • Delivering Safer Boating Resources around the region.

Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience

Ideal applicants will:
  • Have a great attitude
  • Be comfortable and confident speaking to the general public
  • Be willing and capable of working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Hold a Coastguard Boating Day Skipper certificate (or be willing to complete this as part of the role).
  • Be interested in a career in Maritime.

Applicants must be able to work over the Christmas/New Year period.
