Our vision: Nature is thriving in Aotearoa | Te Oranga o te Ao Tūroa
The Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) serves to protect and restore nature spaces and species across Aotearoa.
Tangata whenua are inextricably linked to the whenua and te taiao, and we desire a future where whānau, hapū and iwi can thrive in their role as rangatira and kaitiaki.
Tō tātou taiāo. Tō tātou hītori. He tāonga tūturu nō Aotearoa. Maioha rawatia. Poipoia rawatia. Tukua.
Our nature. Our history. It's New Zealand's unique legacy. Enjoy it. Enrich it. Pass it on.

Due to the evolving and complex nature of procurement, we have recently transitioned to a centralised, category led operating model to provide more strategic and best practise service to the business. This new model will enable DOC to deliver on its key strategic focus areas such as strengthening our Treaty partnerships and providing strong support for our frontline staff.
This role is ideally based in Wellington, Christchurch, or Auckland, where our team is located to offer support. However, we are open to considering other locations for the right candidate

He angitūtanga | About the role
This position is not your typical Procurement role - we are open to individuals who bring a strong reporting and analytical skillset but may not have had much exposure to the world of Procurement (but eager to learn!)
Reporting to the Procurement Best Practice Lead, the Supplier Advisor will provide ongoing support to the overarching procurement processes and policies by developing reporting requirements, dashboards, completing analysis and ensuring best practice guidelines are followed to empower the business in their daily procurement activities.

Other areas you may be focussed on include:
  • Gathering and interpreting market research data to support guidance provided to stakeholders
  • Develop reporting and insights for both the team and our stakeholders to be self-sufficient in gathering basic data
  • Analyse procurement spend to identify commercial opportunities to decrease costs and increase efficiency
  • Assisting with the development and upkeep of procurement templates, processes and internal procurement hub
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve outcomes
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
If you have some of the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Recent experience (3 – 5 years) in a support role, ideally where you've had a strong reporting and analytical focus drawing insights from data collated
  • Tertiary qualification (Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business), or commensurate experience in procurement and/or the commercial sector
  • Tech savvy, you have intermediate Excel skills and may have had exposure to other programmes or systems such as SAP and Power BI
  • Big picture and inquisitive thinker – able to understand, comprehend, probe and ask appropriate questions to get the right information to progress tasks and projects
  • Experience in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, suppliers, and senior managers
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and internal/ external stakeholders building strong working relationships
  • Exposure within a Government agency environment would be viewed favourably
  • An understanding of why the Māori Crown relationship is important to DOC.
Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What's in it for you?
DOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow. We're working towards being an organisation that is diverse, equitable and inclusive by default. You can learn more about what we offer here.
