We are currently seeking to employ a Technical Coordinator to our Distribution Central team based in Palmerston North. In this role, you will coordinate the day-to-day organisation of assigned technical field staff.

  • Planning work and interfacing with Project Managers, Design staff, Customers and Technical team.
  • Assessing, developing, and implementing the most cost effective and efficient methodology and procedures to comply with the minimum requirements of the contract, without compromising safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Scheduling resources for technical project works in conjunction with Project Managers.
  • Coordinating assigned technical staff and providing assistance and guidance as required to maintain excellence in productivity and industrial relations.
  • Assisting with scoping of all new potential contracts to ensure the best bids are delivered.
  • Assisting Project Manager on progress claims, cost of scope changes and technical reporting.
  • Assessing project risks to prevent inadvertent power outages and equipment damage to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Achieving safe working methods and the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act and ensuring these are communicated to all staff.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Hands on experience in distribution lines installation and maintenance.
  • Hands on experience on distribution underground assets from low voltage and high voltage cables, ground mounted switch gear and transformers
  • Experience with high voltage and low voltage switching
  • Understand SCAD diagrams and electrical drawings
  • A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements pertaining to the carrying out of all prescribed electrical work
  • HV jointing experience is preferred but not essential
  • Sound computer skills and able to write methodologies and reports
