Merchant 1948 is a New Zealand Family owned and operated footwear retailer who has been around since, you guessed it, 1948. We are a household name and a trusted source of premium leather footwear for all occasions.
The role
Based in our Newmarket store and reporting to the Store Manager you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with day-to-day responsibilities
- Contributing to the training and development of the store team by coaching on shift
- Maintaining and driving sales, ensuring the team stay motivated
- Ensuring a great customer experience is prioritised
- Helping to create and maintain a positive in store culture
- Keeping on top of visual merchandising, product expertise and operational aspects of the store.

About you
- Retail leadership qualities or experience with proven results and of course, a passion for sales
- A great attitude; positive, confident, a growth mindset and flexible
- Ability to motivate your team to achieve exceptional results
- A love of connecting and engaging with people – both your team and customers
- Focus on growth and development for yourself and others
- Excellent technical and operational know-how or willingness to learn
- Passion for our brand, alignment to our values and culture
- Must be available to work Sunday to Thursday, 40 hours per week
