Job Title: Credit Controller
Location: 5-Star Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria
Reports to: Finance Manager
Job Summary:
The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the hotel’s credit operations, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts while maintaining strong guest and business relationships. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, a good understanding of credit policies, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, luxury hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Management: Implement and manage the hotel’s credit control policies and procedures to minimize debt exposure and ensure timely collections.
- Debt Collection: Monitor accounts receivable and follow up with customers, agencies, and corporate accounts for prompt payment. Manage overdue payments effectively.
- Credit Risk Assessment: Evaluate and approve new credit applications in line with the hotel’s credit policies, conducting background checks and risk assessments on potential clients.
- Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile customer accounts to ensure all transactions are correctly posted and disputes are resolved promptly.
- Reporting: Generate and present monthly and quarterly reports on debtors, overdue accounts, and collections performance to senior management.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Front Office, and Reservations) and external clients to ensure efficient debt collection and credit management.
- Dispute Resolution: Address and resolve any billing or payment discrepancies in collaboration with the relevant departments.
- Compliance: Ensure all credit activities are compliant with the hotel’s policies and any relevant financial regulations.
- Cash Flow Management: Assist in the cash flow forecasting and budgeting processes, providing insights on receivables.
- *Internal Audits:* Collaborate with internal audit teams to ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in credit control, preferably in the hospitality or related sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and credit control processes.
- Experience using hotel property management systems (PMS) and accounting software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve disputes tactfully.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
Working Conditions:

- Occasional extended hours may be required to meet deadlines.
