Supply Chain Manager

ABOUT CLIENT: Our client, an Agro-Allied company specializing in oil palm cultivation and crude oil processing, is seeking a well experience Supply Chain Manager.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Purchase Management:
- Responsible for entering the right specifications into the supplier item master database
- Technical, commercial and risk evaluation of local offers when needed.
- Implements purchasing policies to ensure all items are purchased, delivered, and invoiced within budget and time frame.
- Proactively monitors the delivery times of the products and takes necessary actions to ensure an optimal stock at all times.
- Streamlines the relations between purchasing and the internal customers and services.
- Makes suggestions and proposals for optimization of the buying processes and procedures.
- Initiates purchase saving projects, considering costs, value creation, and risk and implements.
- Measures and improves the performance of the supplier base (based on the 4 pillars).
- Manages the appointed 3PL service providers to clear and transport in the most efficient way.
- Ensures that the correct import duties are paid according to the import regulations of Nigeria
- Knowledge of Nigerian Import/export regulation and the LC/bill for collections Form opening, HS codes, import documentation.
- Submission of all the permits NAFDAC, SONCAP, EUC, NESRA.
- Deliver cost savings through sustainable and continuous improvement and continuous challenge of the logistics cost base.
- Ensures all logistics hub operations are operated in full compliance with all country legal standards regarding health and safety, environmental, and import / export regulations.
- Influences demand & supply planning, customer supply chain, customer fulfillment, and logistics service providers to continuously improve logistics service & cost.
- Works alongside logistics procurement to tender, negotiate & award contracts for logistics services.
- Continually review the third-party logistics contracts to ensure it meet the future needs of the business.
- Leads on any logistics tendering processes to define negotiations for any existing contract renewals and price changes.
- Responsible for transportation of finished goods
- Daily booking of tank trailer trucks to the customers by implementing a future track & trace system
- Liaising with transport companies to ensure transport is the correct size and for the right product.
- Manage the finished goods stock together with the commercial and production manager, to safeguard the transport capacity to serve our customers’ needs.
- Focus on providing efficiencies within the transport network.
- The future track trace system needs to plan/supervise for around 30 to 50 loads of finished products weekly in the most profitable way.
- Assist in negotiating rates with the transport providers.
- Managing day-to-day activities with a team of 3 managers (Purchase, Logistics and Warehouse) and 20 warehouse staff members to optimize stock levels considering delivery times and storage costs.
- Initiates projects to operate as lean as possible.
- Ensures the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements including supplier
- warranty returns.
- Organize monthly stock counts and perform a root cause analysis of discrepancies.
- University degree in Industrial Engineering or mechanical engineering background. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Min. 10 years of relevant technical purchasing and logistics experience.
- Previous working experience in Africa is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate across all levels.
- Experience in managing and leading a Supply chain team
- Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Excel, SQL, Visual basic , CSV, and XML.
- Understanding and optimizing inventory levels to balance supply and demand.
- Knowledge of transportation, warehousing, and distribution strategies.
- Expertise in sourcing, negotiating contracts, and supplier relationship management.
- Demand Planning and Forecasting - Ability to predict customer demand and adjust supply chain activities accordingly.
- Ensuring products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in analysing supply chain data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Ability to quickly identify problems within the supply chain and develop effective solutions.
- Developing long-term strategies to improve supply chain operations and support business objectives.
- Evaluating costs and finding ways to reduce expenses without compromising quality or efficiency.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and cost management.
- Very strong sense of ethics and integrity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership/supervisory and people management skills.
Pay: From ₦600,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Abuja: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (Preferred)
- Supply Chain Management: 10 years (Required)
- Inbound and Outbound Logistics: 8 years (Required)
- Warehouse Management: 8 years (Required)
