This job description outlines the requirements for the position of Instrument Engineer, which will report directly to Engineering Manager within the company.
Role Description
It is the responsibility of the Instrument Engineer to define and execute project tasks according to company standards, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. You will work closely with the technical department to meet these standards. Additionally, you will support the development and proposal of new business opportunities, projects, and solutions. Your role will also involve creating effective working methods, processes, and procedures within the field, contributing to the company’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) efforts.

Skilled instrument engineer with analytic skills
This job description outlines the requirements for the position of Instrument Engineer, which will report directly to Engineering Manager within the company.
Role Description
It is the responsibility of the Instrument Engineer to define and execute project tasks according to company standards, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. You will work closely with the technical department to meet these standards. Additionally, you will support the development and proposal of new business opportunities, projects, and solutions. Your role will also involve creating effective working methods, processes, and procedures within the field, contributing to the company’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) efforts.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise for the specification, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of instrumented equipment, metering systems and control elements (eg., P&ID, data analysis and calculation).
- Offer ongoing technical support to the operations and maintenance departments to resolve field-related challenges.
- Develop solutions to technical problems, including budget assessments, project plans, and safety considerations, to support project objectives.
- Produce, review, and comprehend documentation related to the design, installation, andoperation of equipment and systems (eg., CAD work, BIM modeling).
- Develop and implement technical procedures, work instructions, standards, and guidancedocuments as needed (eg., acceptance test procedures, manuals).
- Prepare design and purchasing specifications for instrumented equipment, metering systems and control elements, ensuring adherence to company procedures and relevant standards (eg,. Instrument datasheets, MTO).
- Ensure that designs comply with regulations and industry standards, guaranteeing the safe and secure delivery of projects and facilities. (SIS, Functional safety, ATEX).
- Oversee external consultants’ conduction of work in the field of instrument and metering engineering.
- Participate in risk assessments and fault analysis activities (eg., HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA).
- Participate in project improvements and changes, fostering a strong HSEQ culture in all activities undertaken by the company and your role.
Qualifications:
- Higher education in engineering, a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or technical college;
- however, relevant experience may compensate for formal education.
- Relevant working experience in relevant field of engineering
- Proficient communication skills in both Norwegian and English
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Analytical skills to assess technical issues and devise effective solutions and methods for
- product or project implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of instruments, sensors and control element types.
- Understanding of process control systems and instrumentation standards.
- Familiarity with industry-specific instrumentation technologies and practices.
- Proficiency in calibration techniques and maintenance procedures.
- Generally good knowledge of computing
- Proactive in seeking advice and sharing experiences.
- Strong interdisciplinary understanding

- Independent and efficient; that takes responsibility for personal outcome and deliverables.
