Regional Technical Service Specialist Application

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Jotun Performance Coating, Europe and Central Asia is looking for a dedicated Regional Specialist Application, to support the Sales team by offering technical advice and support. Technical documentation and complaint handling will also be part of the role. Our new regional specialist will conduct and track technical training internally/externally using the available training materials and global standards to ensure correct use of products and accurate technical advice.
This position will be based in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA), region and will be reporting to the Regional Technical Service & Support Director.
Provide technical expert advice in the region on the practical execution of a project within specific concept(s)/service(s). Be on site on specifically identified key projects. Planning, coaching and monitoring activities to secure the coating specification is met, and the job is completed according to contract, customer’s and Jotun’s satisfaction. Regional Specialist, Application is fully educated within a specialized field and is fully responsible for the application of the involved product/ concept/ service. The employee will also need to act as a Senior Coating Advisor on specific projects. The job holder will work closely with local project management, the respective Regional TSS Manager and/or Regional TSS Director, both local and regional sales and the Technical Service Global Specialist within the specialized area, to ensure any project within their region is executed to the highest standard.
Job Responsibilities:
- Regional concept/service specialist interacting with customers and stakeholders, sharing information and ensuring that the customer have received all necessary information concerning the application of products
- Manage projects where advanced products have been specified by giving clear instructions to clients and relevant Jotun staff in accordance with working procedures to ensure that the specification and customer expectations are met.
- Close cooperation with Regional TSS and Technical Service Global Specialist on assigned key projects.
- Train internal and external applicators by holding theoretical classes and practical demonstrations to approve the applicators in applying the product.
- Support local sales units in the use of TSS tools as part of the sales process, risk calculators, project evaluation documents, organization charts and guarantees.
- Give advice to the local entities on e.g. consumption, manning, ITP, organization and production plans.
- Mentor by supporting and guiding colleagues - knowledge sharing and building a cohesive culture across the regional technical team
- Continuously evaluate and comment on risk assessments by identifying potential risks and suggesting countermeasures to minimize risk exposure to Jotun
- Ensure that identified risks are attended to through internal and external kick-off meetings and documented through technical agreements, Inspection and Test Plan (ITP)
- Support local units in trouble shooting and claim handling on ongoing or delivered projects.
- Keep up to date with application and inspection equipment relevant to the business. Be a reference point to the company in these areas and contribute actively to update regional technical information.
- Responsible for commenting on application guides and technical training material as per the guidelines on technical documentation & Technical Training from Performance Coatings.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR AND WHAT WE OFFER
Required education and background/experience:
Educational level is minimum high school or other vocational school preferably with background in science or other technical area
The position requires experience in the paint industry, both theoretical and practical
Minimum 10 years' experience within polyester or high-pressure paint application equipment
Specific credentials/qualifications preferred in this role:
- FROSIO III – Red, NACE Level 3, or equivalent within the field
- Further external or internal education and training relevant for the position
Personal qualities:
- Ability to withstand a high paced working day with many processes ongoing at the same time.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in cross functional teams.
- Able to plan well and work according to set timelines making sure deadlines are met.
- Work independently and structured
Job requirements
- Jotun's work language is English, and all potential candidates must have a high level of English both oral and written
- Competence in IT, MS Office and databases is necessary.
- Willing to travel 100 days +/- pr. year
