What you can expect
The Norway Projects and Engineering / Exploration and Subsurface teams comprise of internationally experienced individuals tasked with the maturation of discoveries and development opportunities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. During the early development phase close cooperation between the Early Phase Projects and Exploration teams ensures subsurface and other project risks are identified and mitigated at an early stage, in addition to identification of potential opportunities. In total the subsurface community in Wintershall Dea Norway comprises of more than 100 staff and consultants engaged in activities related to operated and partner-operated exploration, development and production assets.
As a Senior Sedimentology Specialist you will report to a Subsurface Manager either in Early Phase projects or Exploration and Subsurface and can expect to:
- Be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide specialist sedimentology related input to the evaluation of early phase development projects
- Participate in and / or lead core description workshops and other specialist studies
- Contribute to the building, maintaining and defending of static reservoir models
- Assist in well planning, data acquisition program and follow up of appraisal and development wells
- Ensuring that a sound understanding of the reservoir architecture (sedimentology and stratigraphy) is captured in the geo-model and communicated efficiently
- Contribute to technical discussions related to reservoir characterization, sedimentology and stratigraphy within the subsurface and project teams
- Contribute with coaching and mentoring
- Arranging and follow up of third party studies.
What we expect
Education requirements
- Relevant University degree
Work experience
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in production/development geology and geomodelling
- Specialist skills in sedimentology and stratigraphic analysis of reservoirs and depositional systems
- Experience of leading and / or participating in core description workshops and fieldtrips
- Experience and knowledge from a wide range of siliciclastic depositional systems, including deepwater, fluvial and marginal marine settings
- Ability to identify and describe subsurface risks related to reservoir architecture, facies variations and diagenesis
- Sound knowledge of Petrel is a must, other related software packages (RMS, SKUA, Touchstone) is positive
- Able to efficiently implement various sedimentological and/or structural geological concepts and scenarios into 3D-reservoir models
- Able to evaluate and implement geological risks and uncertainties in reservoir models by using uncertainty workflows
- Skilled to incorporate 3D-seismic data and attribute analysis into static reservoir models
- Good cross-disciplinary understanding in well log interpretation and numerical reservoir simulation
- Previous experience with license work on NCS is a desired advantage
