WSP Middle East is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of experience in project management and planning for a high-profile power transmission project in Oman. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in planning, scheduling, and monitoring large-scale engineering projects, specifically within the power transmission or energy sector. A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering, proficiency in Primavera (P6), and PMP or PSP certification (preferred) are essential for this role. The Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for the development of project schedules, resource planning, and ensuring timely project execution.

The Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for the development of project schedules, resource planning, and ensuring timely project execution.
Your new role, what's involved?
To prepare, track and execute projects and remediation programs within the plant and coordinate approvals as per established and agreed procedures.
- Prepare and update project schedule based on the contract from erceiving of the PIAD to commesioning.
- Set work program and target milestones for each phase based on the project plan.
- Monitor critical activities based on the project schedule and advise project management.
- Prepares and submit updated work program and cash flow curve showing actual progress and identify areas of weakness and establishes means and methods for recovery, if any, as well as new critical activities.
- Monitor day to day work progress and prepare the weekly and monthly program and report.
- Maintain and record update of site work progress obtained from Project Manager.
- Prepares monthly report reflecting work progress summary.
- Report to the Project Manager about the current work progress and make comparison between plan and actual progress and study impact of alternative approaches to work.
- Participate in project meetings and discussions with the Client as required.
- Assists in preparing work program, cash flow and manpower histogram for tenders.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in project management and planning for large-scale engineering projects, ideally within the power transmission or energy sector.
- Strong proficiency in Primavera (P6) for project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or PSP (Project Scheduling Professional) certification is preferred.
- Proven track record in planning and scheduling for high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and related infrastructure.
- Excellent knowledge of earned value management (EVM), risk analysis, and delay analysis.
- Familiarity with international project management standards and best practices (PMI, AACE).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple project timelines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of Omani or GCC power transmission industry practices and regulations is an advantage.
