WSP Middle East is seeking an experienced Senior SCADA Engineer to lead and manage SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems in a major power transmission project in Oman. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of experience in project management, specifically focused on SCADA systems in the power transmission, utilities, or energy sectors. The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Communication Engineering and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. The Senior SCADA Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems to ensure reliable control and monitoring of the transmission network.

Your new role, what's involved?
Design, install and maintain all types of Telecommunication, Remote Terminal Units (RTU) and Substation Control Systems (SCS). Ensuring proper regular preventative maintenance for SCS, RTU and realize efficient communication system for protection, SCADA, data and voice communications

• Responsible for the installation, commissioning, configuration and maintenance of communication systems at substations and LDC
• Main Equipment to be maintained includes:-

1 – Servers, Operators/Engineering workstations at Substations
2 – BCUs, Gateways and RTUs equipment
3 – Network equipment – Hubs, Switches
4 – Communication devices – Multiplexers and Telephony systems

• Follow up and monitor commissioning of new systems such as SCADA & SCS Systems
• Preventative maintenance of communication, RTU/SCS and SCADA System
• Providing Technical Support for new SCADA requirements
• Carrying out the commissioning of MUX/SCS/RTU systems
• Verification of design documents for MUX/SCS/RTU systems from different vendors
• Verification of functional description documents for MUX/SCS/RTU systems from different vendors
• Responsible for making records of manufactured drawings from Contractors

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Communication Engineering from a recognized university.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is mandatory.
• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on SCADA systems in the power transmission or energy sector.
• Proven experience in SCADA system design, implementation, and commissioning for large-scale power transmission projects.
• Strong understanding of SCADA communication protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus) and control systems integration.
• Experience with SCADA software and hardware platforms from leading vendors (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Schneider Electric).
• Familiarity with network and telecommunications systems (fiber optics, IP networks) as they relate to SCADA system integration.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and best practices for securing SCADA systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of SCADA systems and regulations in Oman or the GCC region is an added advantage.
