Job Description:
Position Title: Secretary General
Location: Lahore, Pakistan
Organization: Pakistan Solar Association (PSA)
Reports To: Executive Board/Chairman of Pakistan Solar Association
Job Overview:
The Secretary General of the Pakistan Solar Association (PSA) is responsible for the efficient management and strategic leadership of the association. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and excellent organizational skills to advance the association’s mission of promoting the solar energy sector in Pakistan. The Secretary General will represent the association at the national and international levels, liaise with government bodies, and work towards the development and implementation of policies that support the growth of the solar industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Planning:
Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Executive Board.
Lead advocacy efforts for favorable policies and regulations related to solar energy in Pakistan.
Drive initiatives that promote the solar industry, aiming for both industry growth and sustainable energy development.
2. Operational Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the association, ensuring efficiency and goal alignment.
Supervise the association's staff and volunteers to ensure smooth functioning and coordination of activities.
Manage budgets, funding, and resources, ensuring financial sustainability of the association.
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry players, financial institutions, and international bodies.
Represent PSA in meetings, seminars, and events at the national and international levels.
Build partnerships with NGOs, research institutions, and other organizations working in the renewable energy sector.
4. Policy Advocacy & Development:
Advocate for policies that support solar energy development, including incentives, subsidies, and regulatory frameworks.
Work with government bodies and regulators to shape and influence policies that benefit the solar industry.
Lead research initiatives on solar energy and share insights to strengthen the association’s advocacy efforts.
5. Communications & Public Relations:
Act as the spokesperson for the association, delivering speeches, writing articles, and giving interviews to the media.
Develop communication strategies to raise awareness about the solar industry and PSA’s role.
Coordinate public relations activities and manage the association’s online presence.
6. Event Planning & Management:
Organize conferences, seminars, and workshops aimed at promoting solar energy and educating industry professionals.
Ensure that events align with PSA’s objectives and generate value for members and stakeholders.
7. Membership Development:
Engage with existing members to provide value and support their needs.
Develop strategies to attract new members and expand PSA's membership base.
8. Reporting & Governance:
Prepare regular reports for the Executive Board and update them on the progress of initiatives.
Ensure that all activities of the association adhere to the governance structure and policies approved by the Board.
Facilitate Board meetings and maintain records of proceedings, decisions, and action plans.
Key Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Energy Management, or related fields.
A specialization in renewable energy, environmental policy, or solar technology would be an advantage.
Experience:
At least 10 years of experience in a leadership or senior management role, preferably in the energy or renewable energy sector.
Proven track record of advocacy, policy development, and stakeholder engagement at both national and international levels.
Experience in managing teams and working with associations or non-profit organizations is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills.
Ability to network, build relationships, and influence key stakeholders.
Deep understanding of Pakistan’s solar energy landscape, regulatory environment, and industry challenges.
Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
