The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities. AKUH is the first hospital in Pakistan to be awarded the prestigious Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) for practicing the highest internationally recognized healthcare standards.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic center which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that spreads across Pakistan. AKUH's Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the need of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs across Pakistan. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections namely Chemical Pathology, Haematology and Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
- check the suitability of specimens and confirm receiving, sorting and distribution of samples in the section and on daily basis according to Laboratory protocols
- enter patients and test data into the computer on daily basis according to laboratory protocols
- timely file and arrange biopsy blocks and slides on daily basis
- arrange patient history and biopsy report and its retrieval as per need
- prepare formalin for routine biopsy samples on daily basis and fill biopsy container for other departments
- dispose all chemical waste and hand it over to third party / outsourced vendor
- discard/dispose off completed specimens according to sample retention policy and lab safety rules
- organize work and keep work area clean on daily basis and as per the laboratory protocols.
Requirements
You should have:
- Intermediate, preferably in Pre-Medical
- atleast one year of relevant experience gained at a laboratory or a hospital
- knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and safety
- basic computer skills.
