Construction First Aider
A Construction First Aider has critical responsibilities focused on ensuring the health and safety of individuals on a construction site. Provide immediate medical assistance to injured or ill workers on-site, assessing their condition and determining the appropriate course of action. maintaining a safe work environment, providing immediate medical assistance, and promoting health and safety awareness on the job site. Their prompt actions can significantly reduce the severity of injuries and support the well-being of all personnel involved.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer first aid treatments such as bandaging wounds, performing CPR, using AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), and managing other minor injuries or medical emergencies.
- Document injuries or accidents that occur on-site, including details of the incident, actions taken, and any follow-up care required.
- Prepare and maintain first aid kits, ensuring that they are stocked with necessary supplies and that equipment is in good condition.
- Ensure that the construction site complies with health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures related to first aid and emergency response.
- Educate workers and staff about first aid procedures and safety protocols. This may include conducting training sessions or workshops.
- If necessary, coordinate with external emergency services (ambulance, fire department) for serious injuries or health issues, providing them with relevant information and directions to the site.
- Keep an eye on overall health and safety conditions at the construction site, identifying potential hazards and responding with appropriate measures to prevent accidents.
- Handle all health-related matters with confidentiality, respecting the privacy of individuals concerning their medical conditions and treatments.
- Ensure personal safety while providing first aid, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety protocols to avoid exposure to hazards.
- Advise workers on follow-up care and rehabilitation, including referrals to medical professionals when necessary.
- Stay updated on first aid practices, techniques, and changes in health and safety regulations, participating in refresher courses as needed.
- Completion of a recognized first aid training course, which may include basic first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training.
- Certification from Philippine Red Cross, is typically required. This certification should be current, with some programs requiring renewal every few years.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of working experience as First Aider in a construction firm
- Familiarity with OSHA guidelines and standards related to workplace safety and health, which can be beneficial. OSHA training specific to construction
- Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, and emergency services when necessary.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations, practices, and potential hazards present on construction sites.
- Ability to remain composed in emergency situations, making quick and effective decisions.
- Detail-oriented in documenting injuries and incidents accurately and following protocols.
- Interpersonal skills to provide comfort and support to injured or distressed individuals.
- Sufficient physical health to perform first aid duties and assist injured individuals if necessary.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other safety personnel, management, and workers on-site.
- While specific experience in first aid may not always be necessary, prior experience in a construction or industrial environment can be beneficial. This experience can help in understanding the specific hazards and dynamics of a construction site.
- Participation in periodic refresher courses and updates on first aid practices, health safety regulations, and any new techniques or equipment.
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: Php17,000.00 - Php18,500.00 per month
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
